ATAI News Alert

A free economic-calendar companion for MetaTrader. See the next relevant release on a blue chart panel and receive reminders before it happens. It monitors all currencies from one chart and never opens, closes or modifies a trade.

Install the correct edition
- Sign in to your free ATAI account and choose MT5 (.ex5) or MT4 (.ex4). These files are already compiled. An EX4 file cannot run in MT5 and an EX5 file cannot run in MT4.
- Inside the terminal you actually use, choose File → Open Data Folder. For MT5, copy the file to MQL5 → Experts. For MT4, use MQL4 → Experts.
- Open Navigator (Ctrl+N), right-click Expert Advisors and select Refresh. Restart MetaTrader if it does not appear. Attach the tool to one chart, on any instrument or timeframe.
- Set up the ATAI WebRequest permission below, then review Inputs and click OK. The panel should change from CONNECTING to CONNECTED after a successful refresh.
- This EA needs the desktop terminal or a VPS running MetaTrader. A phone can receive push notifications, but the mobile and web terminals cannot run this EA. No DLL imports or trading permission are needed for its alert-only logic.
Required: allow the ATAI news connection
- Open Tools → Options → Expert Advisors in MetaTrader.
- Tick Allow WebRequest for listed URL. Add a new entry containing exactly the HTTPS address shown below. Do this separately in every MT4 or MT5 installation you use.
- Click OK to save. In the EA’s Inputs, leave NewsFeedUrl set to https://atai.ca/api/news/calendar/. The permission entry is the site address; the feed setting is the full calendar address.
- Allow the next refresh (30 seconds by default), or remove and reattach the News Alert. Look for CONNECTED and an updated Last check time. There may legitimately be zero matching upcoming events.
https://atai.caOfficial MetaTrader reference ↗What the panel tells you
CONNECTED means the most recent calendar request succeeded. The panel shows the impact filter, the upcoming events matching it, the next event, its currency and scheduled UTC time. These are news reminders, not buy/sell signals or forecasts.
The chart symbol does not filter currencies. For example, the EA can show a USD or GBP release while attached to EURUSD. High, Medium and Low each select that single impact category; All selects all three.
Keep your computer’s date and time accurate. Event times and alert timing use UTC, not your broker’s Market Watch clock. A reminder is delivered at the first successful refresh within the selected lead-time window, so it is not guaranteed to arrive at the exact second.
Settings: events and remindersClick to view defaults and explanations
| Setting / stage | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| ImpactFilter | High impact only | Choose High only, Medium only, Low only or All impacts. This is a single-choice filter, not a minimum-impact threshold. |
| AlertMinutesBefore | 30 | Lead time in minutes, from 1 to 1440. Set 10 for a reminder within the last 10 minutes before a release. Past events do not generate a new reminder. |
| ShowPopupAlert | true | Display the MetaTrader popup. Alerts are also written in the Experts log. |
| SendMobilePush | false | Enable push reminders only after configuring the terminal’s Notifications tab. |
| CheckEverySeconds | 30 | Calendar refresh interval. Values below 10 are treated as 10 seconds. |
| NewsFeedUrl | https://atai.ca/api/news/calendar/ | ATAI calendar endpoint. Keep this address for the supported feed; do not replace it with the public /news/ page. |
Settings: appearanceClick to view defaults and explanations
| Setting / stage | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| ShowChartStatus | true | Show or hide the blue information panel. Hiding the panel does not switch off reminders. |
| PanelFontSize | 14 | Text size from 10 to 28. The layout adapts to the available chart area. |
| PanelFontName | Tahoma | Font family used by the panel; use a font installed on your computer. |
| PanelLeft | 16 | Non-negative horizontal distance in pixels from the left of the chart. |
| PanelTop | 36 | Non-negative vertical distance in pixels from the top of the chart. |
Receive reminders on your phone
- Install the MetaTrader mobile app and find your MetaQuotes ID in its messages/settings area.
- In desktop MetaTrader, open Tools → Options → Notifications. Enable push notifications, enter that MetaQuotes ID and use Test to confirm delivery.
- Set SendMobilePush = true in News Alert Inputs. Leave the desktop terminal or VPS running and connected.
- An event already marked as alerted in this terminal is not sent again when you change the font or reattach the EA. Configure push first and check it with the terminal’s Test button.
Troubleshooting
Not in Navigator: confirm the file extension and the data folder of this particular terminal; refresh Navigator or restart it. Update MetaTrader if its log reports an incompatible executable.
CONNECTION NEEDS ATTENTION: check the HTTPS allowlist entry, the exact NewsFeedUrl, internet connectivity and the Experts tab’s HTTP/error number. A WebRequest permission is separate from the Algo Trading switch.
WAITING FOR FRESH NEWS: the feed could not provide a valid current response. The EA retries automatically; do not treat an old event display as confirmation of a fresh calendar.
No popup: check the selected impact, lead time, ShowPopupAlert and whether this terminal already alerted that event. No upcoming matching events is not a connection error.
Do not test the online feed in Strategy Tester: MetaTrader does not execute WebRequest there. Test on a normal connected chart.
